Marion was born in the Lake of the Woods region in northwestern Ontario. She slowly migrated west, living in Winnipeg for ten years before moving to the Okanagan in 1970. Except for a brief sojourn in Toronto, Ontario, Trail and Rossland, British Columbia, Marion has made the Okanagan her home since then. A chemist by education (BSc) and an artist by nature Marion was able to seriously pursue her art full time in 2003. She attended two drawing workshops sponsored by the Summerland Community Arts Council to help develop her sense of proportion and perspective. The painters of light, JMW Turner, Ivan Aivazovsky and Odd Nerdrum have helped define some of the technical goals that Marion is hoping to achieve. The rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield and the dramatic expanse of the Canadian Prairie skies have had a marked influence on her artistic paradigm but it is the God filled solitude of the British Columbia landscape that Marion wishes to communicate most through her art. Marion works mainly in oils and graphite and her art hangs in private collections in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.
